Hon. (Engr) David Rogers Irimagha, Executive Chairman, Bonny Local Government Honours “First Class” Graduate From Bonny.
Appoints Him Special Assistant On Student’s Affairs.
The Executive Chairman of Bonny Local Government has stated that “Education remains a solid bedrock for sustainable development and a platform for a more prospective future for the younger generation”.
Hon. Irimagha stated this today in his conference hall at Bonny Local Government Council where he and members of his cabinet proudly received Boma Halliday, a Bonny son that graduated from the University of Port-Harcourt as a “First Class” graduate in Educational Psychology with 4.60 CGPA. While lauding him for such an amiable and remarkable feat, the council boss recounted his days as a student, emphasizing that it’s not easy.
“I am really impressed with such intellectual prowess and academic excellence, the journey and challenges is not an easy ride, and am glad you surmounted it and emerged successfully, you’re hereby appointed as my Special Assistant on Students Affairs with immediate effect. Furthermore, I will make it an Executive law for any student with such grade in any field of study to get an appointment in the council or a job, which will add as support in furthering your academic pursuit”, he said.
The Vice-Chairman of the council, Hon (Mrs) Anengi Barasua said “the celebrant (Boma) has not only made himself proud but has also made Bonny proud with his exceptional achievement”, encouraged Teachers in Bonny not to be deterred by the challenges in the system, advised students to be studious irrespective of their family background or status of school because primary and secondary schools are their educational foundation.
Bonny Local Government Supervisor for Education, Mrs. Christaben Frank Anthony Hart in her words said to the celebrant, “you have not only made your immediate family proud but the entirety of Bonny Local Government “.
Boma Halliday was accompanied by his father Mr. Gogo Halliday, Teachers, Students, and well-wishers. He attended Model Primary School and St. Paul Comprehensive Secondary Group of School in Bonny before proceeding to write his SSCE at Spring Foundation Secondary school, Bonny. In 2014 he gained admission into the University of Port-Harcourt to study Educational Psychology where he bagged his first degree upon graduation in 2019.
